BG 4.13 · The Fourfold Order by Divisions of Guṇa and Karma
“The fourfold order was created by Me according to the divisions of guṇa and karma. Though I am its creator, know Me as the immutable non-doer.”
Textual scope: The verse names a fourfold order, guṇa, karma, Krishna as creator, and Krishna as immutable non-doer. It does not provide a planetary scoring algorithm.
Interpretive boundary: Questions about birth, social history, varṇa, jāti, vocation, and dharma require named commentarial, historical, legal, and lived-context distinctions. Vidhyamitra does not insert “not birth” into the literal translation as if those exact words appeared in the verse.
Personal boundary: Vidhyamitra does not assign a living person varṇa, jāti, caste, occupation, hierarchy, sva-dharma, or human worth from a horoscope—or from this verse alone.
