Vyāsa Maharṣi — the same ṛṣi through whom the Bhagavad-Gītā emerged in Krishna's voice — included the complete Rāma-story within the Mahābhārata. Vana-Parva (Āraṇyaka-Parva) chapters 258-275 form the Rāmopākhyāna — 18 chapters, 704 verses — Sage Mārkaṇḍeya narrating the entire Rāmāyaṇa to Yudhiṣṭhira during the Pāṇḍava forest-exile. This is Vyāsa's own act of recognition: the One who is Krishna here is the One who was Rāma there.
