हिन्दी टीका-पाठ
अपने पिता राजा उत्तानपादके पास बैठे हुए पाँच वर्षके बालक ध्रुवको उनकी सौतेली माता सुरुचिने अपने वचन-बाणोंसे बेध दिया था। इतनी छोटी अवस्था होनेपर भी वे उस ग्लानिसे तपस्या करनेके लिये वनमें चले गये। उनकी प्रार्थनासे प्रसन्न होकर भगवान् प्रकट हुए और उन्होंने ध्रुवको ध्रुवपदका वरदान दिया। आज भी ध्रुवके ऊपर-नीचे प्रदक्षिणा करते हुए दिव्य महर्षिगण उनकी स्तुति करते रहते हैं॥ ८॥
