हिन्दी भावार्थ
उस समय मार्कण्डेय मुनि अग्निहोत्र करके भगवान्की उपासना कर रहे थे। उनके नेत्र बंद थे। वे इतने तेजस्वी थे, मानो स्वयं अग्निदेव ही मूर्तिमान् होकर बैठे हों! उनको देखनेसे ही मालूम हो जाता था कि इनको पराजित कर सकना बहुत ही कठिन है। इन्द्रके आज्ञाकारी सेवकोंने मार्कण्डेय मुनिको इसी अवस्थामें देखा॥ २३॥
