राजा परीक्षित्ने पूछा— भगवान् बलरामजी सर्वशक्तिमान् एवं सृष्टि-प्रलयकी सीमासे परे, अनन्त हैं। उनका स्वरूप, गुण, लीला आदि मन, बुद्धि और वाणीके विषय नहीं हैं। उनकी एक-एक लीला लोकमर्यादासे विलक्षण है, अलौकिक है। उन्होंने और जो कुछ अद्भुत कर्म किये हों, उन्हें मैं फिर सुनना चाहता हूँ॥ १॥
