नागपत्नियोंने कहा— प्रभो! आपका यह अवतार ही दुष्टोंको दण्ड देनेके लिये हुआ है। इसलिये इस अपराधीको दण्ड देना सर्वथा उचित है। आपकी दृष्टिमें शत्रु और पुत्रका कोई भेदभाव नहीं है। इसलिये आप जो किसीको दण्ड देते हैं, वह उसके पापोंका प्रायश्चित्त कराने और उसका परम कल्याण करनेके लिये ही॥ ३३॥
