सूत उवाच अभ्यर्थितस्तदा तस्मै स्थानानि कलये ददौ । द्यूतं पानं स्त्रिय: सूना यत्राधर्मश्चतुर्विध: ॥ ३८ ॥

Transliteration

sūta uvāca abhyarthitas tadā tasmai sthānāni kalaye dadau dyūtaṁ pānaṁ striyaḥ sūnā yatrādharmaś catur-vidhaḥ

सूतजी कहते हैं— कलियुगकी प्रार्थना स्वीकार करके राजा परीक्षित‍्ने उसे चार स्थान दिये—द्यूत, मद्यपान, स्त्री-संग और हिंसा। इन स्थानोंमें क्रमश: असत्य, मद, आसक्ति और निर्दयता—ये चार प्रकारके अधर्म निवास करते हैं ॥ ३८॥
