वे ही जाग्रत्-अवस्थाके अभिमानी ‘विश्व’ बनकर शब्द, स्पर्श आदि बाह्य विषयोंको ग्रहण करते और वे ही स्वप्नावस्थाके अभिमानी ‘तैजस’ बनकर बाह्य विषयोंके बिना ही मन-ही-मन अनेक विषयोंको देखते और ग्रहण करते हैं। वे ही सुषुप्ति-अवस्थाके अभिमानी ‘प्राज्ञ’ बनकर विषय और मनके संस्कारोंसे युक्त अज्ञानसे ढक जाते हैं और वही सबके साक्षी ‘तुरीय’ रहकर समस्त ज्ञानोंके अधिष्ठान रहते हैं॥ २२॥
