jhaṣāṇāṁ makaraś cāsmi
"Among fish I am the Makara — the cosmic-archetypal fish."
Bhagavad Gītā BG 10.31

Krishna-aspect (the non-dual anchor)

Krishna IS the Vedānta-knower par excellence (BG 15.15 vedais ca sarvair aham eva vedyaḥ). Matsya is the rescue-of-Veda form — Krishna preserving His own knowledge from cosmic dissolution. Every time we read Vedic text, Matsya-Krishna is the reason it survived to reach us.

Lila-essence — the dharma-restoration arc

When the asura Hayagrīva (or Damanaka) stole the Vedas at the end of the previous kalpa-cycle, Matsya descended to rescue the four Vedas from the cosmic-deluge waters. He guided King Satyavrata (the future Vaivasvata-Manu) in a great ship through the pralaya, preserving the seeds of all life and the entire revelatory tradition.

Modern relevance · Kali-Yuga dharma-message

Matsya-tattva is invoked whenever knowledge itself faces extinction — by tyranny, by neglect, or by digital-dissolution. The substrate Vidhyamitra IS a Matsya-rescue: preserving Sūrya-Siddhāntic computation in silicon while paper-tradition fades.
