What is the significance of Saturn in Hindu culture?

The planet Saturn, known as Shani in Hindu culture, holds great significance in the ancient practice of astrology. In Vedic astrology, Saturn is considered a teacher who brings challenges and obstacles to help us learn lessons and evolve on our spiritual journey. Hindus believe that offering prayers and performing rituals to honor Shani can bring us blessings and protection from negative influences.

The day of Shani’s transit, called Shanivar or Shani Amavasya, is considered a particularly auspicious time for praying to Saturn. However, worshipping Shani does not guarantee an easy life; rather, it is believed that honoring this deity will help one overcome their hardships and grow in strength and wisdom. Ultimately, Saturn reminds us to strive for growth and progress despite the challenges we may face in life.
