Best Day and Time to Recite Maa Durga Aarti
- Friday is dedicated to Maa Durga and is considered best for fast or upwaas and pooja of the Goddess.
- Navratris are the 9 days solely dedicated to Maa Durga and are considered auspicious for the pooja and aarti.
- Durga Ashtami, Saptami, Navami and Dussehra are some of the most favourable days for Durga Pooja.
- The Abhijeet, Vijay and Godhuli Muhrat in the Navratri is considered best for the aarti, which will vary every year according to the Hindu calendar and panchang.
- At home, you can perform aarti in the morning and as well in the evening after taking a bath and wearing clean clothes.
Offerings in Maa Durga Aarti
- Offerings of kheer, sweets and fruits should be presented before Maa Durga before aarti as Bhog or Prasadam.
- Kumkum, sindoori lal chunri cloth, red and yellow flowers, along with incense sticks, should be offered to Maa Durga during pooja.
- Diya in evening time filled with pure ghee should be lightened as offering before the aarti of Maa Durga.
- Shankh should be blown, and bells should be ringing during the pooja and after the completion of aarti with the Durga Saptashati lessons.
Pooja Vidhi for Maa Durga Aarti
- Place Maa Durga’s image or Goddess’ idol on a high stool or chowki.
- Place the other puja materials around the altar created for Goddess Durga and decorate it with flowers.
- Place the barley seeds, betel nuts, coin, and mango leaves in front of the Goddess in a clay container.
- Cover the mango leaves with the red cloth and place the coconut on top.
- On a metal plate, arrange the fruits and sweets, and put a glass of water nearby.
- Incense sticks and diyas should be lit.
- In front of Goddess Durga, alpana (rangoli) patterns can be drawn and decorated.
- Chant Durga mantras and offer sincere prayers.
- Complete the puja by performing aarti with camphor.
Pooja Mantra or Dhyan Mantra
- The Pooja Mantra or Jaap (Dhyan Mantra) hold significance for the meditating purposes and peace in the spiritual lifestyle of the devotee.
- One may recite the mantra for however long with a rosary (mala) with a count of 108 times or in any other suitable way as long as the purpose is to serve the spiritual path in oneself.
- The mantra can be recited anytime of day and after the completion of the aarti or pooja, one may sit on the aasan in front of the Goddess and recite the jaap mantra for the benefits of inner and mental peace.
- The mantra that should be recited after pooja and aarti is “Sarva Mangala Mangalye Sive Sarvartha Sadhike, Saranye Trayambike Gauri Narayani Namostute”.
- The Dhyan mantra for the jaap is “Om Jataa Jut Samaayuktamardhendu Krit Lakshnam Lochanyatra Sanyuktam Padmendu Sadya Shan Naam”.
